Working and studying

20061028_pompidou1.jpg

Since I have to stay in Paris for 2 months because I’m working here, I also decided to study, by myself. I’m surrounded by art. I didn’t know there was so many things about art and culture to see here. I knew, but how can you realise there is sooooo much. And since the Van Hogh Museum visit I did last week, I know feel completely different about museums. I want to go there and not just look at different kinds of art, I want to study them. See how different techniques and styles can influence me and my own work. How my digital art (with graphic influence) can improve by what I will see here.

I studied art at school. But I wasn’t prepare for it. I was trying to find my style and technique, what is more personal in my work, what makes me different from others. Now that I know more about what I like to create, I want to study art to understand what I do and see what kind of path I will choose to make it even more personal.

Van Gogh and Japan

Roxana Brongo, photographer

In the same time Van Gogh was alive, Japan opened his doors to the rest of the world. Japanese art began to be more and more popular. And Van Gogh was influence by that art. In Arles he was feeling himself like being in Japan. In Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam there is a new section designed by Kisho Kurokawa. In this building, you can find japanese art done in the late 19th century and that’s what Van Gogh used as inspiration.

Well… it’s funny. It seems like I can’t stop finding relations between my path and his. I love japan modern art, and I think in some ways my work is influenced by it. My trip to Japan last spring shows how much I like this culture.
