Art collaboration

Roxana Brongo

This is a collaboration I did with JKB, a graphic designer from San Francisco. I really like his style of photography. We exchanged a little bit about the subject and the fact that our background in design influences our way to take pictures even if we try to get out of those boundaries. There was one of his photos that I truly loved. He suggested that I try to create some art out of it. So I used this photograph and create that montage with it. From his abstract photography, I added some human and floral texture. I had to keep the black rectangle because I though this was the real focus on this composition.

Here is a detail of the flower pattern.

Loving August

 Roxana Brongo

These last years, August was by far my best month of the year. Oh you can talk about the weather that is so nice, still warm but not too much, and the nights are cooler. You can say that the sun lasts long. It’s certainly helping my mood. All these subtle elements must affect my unconscious. I’m just really creative and I love to feel that way. Like it’s the real me. It’s not the feeling I had this spring when I started to live again. It’s more about getting the right speed of things. La vitesse de croisière. I don’t want to be scared that the winter is coming. I know how hard it is for me. No. I don’t think about it. ‘Cause now, I feel great. I finished all the pieces for ROJO. I started a new serie that I love. I have so many other greats ideas!

Don’t you love August? ;)

We need art

We all need art.
But when you think about it, what is art for? I mean, it doesn’t feed you, it’s not keeping you warm, it can’t help you recover from a flu. There is no fundamental human reasons that can justify our need for art.
But can we live without it? Everything would be so boring and so gray if it wasn’t for art. Just pass through Hydro-Québec’s head office on René-Levesque street and look for 2 seconds at Mousseau’s wall. And it makes your day. I’m not personnally a fan of Mousseau, but this wall is just one example of the feeling you can have when you experiment art. “It is also sometimes argued that even seemingly non-useful art is not useless, but rather that its use is the effect it has on the psyche of the creator or viewer.” (wikipedia)

Do you need art contact? why, where?

WordPress beta

Oui, j’ai osé changer pour WordPress. Que du bon y paraît, alors je plonge… les prochains jours risquent d’être un peu pêle-mêle, le temps que je m’y habitue. Mais à la longue, ça ne devrait être que “plus meilleur” ;)

courage!

Fake Model Photography

There is a known technique in photo-retouching where you can take real-life photos and make them look like miniature models. I’ve seen a lot of people trying and posting their results on the web. You can view a tutorial that explains it very well.

Well the same thing can be done on video (this is just an example, all rights of the original video belong to gettyimages). The effect in unbelievable.
